From the Streets to Success exists to equip individuals impacted by incarceration, poverty, adversity, and limited opportunities with the tools, education, mentorship, and resources needed to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting success.
Through personal development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, business formation, and wealth-building education, we help participants transform their experiences into purpose, ownership, and generational impact.
We envision communities where every individual—regardless of their past—has access to the knowledge, support, and opportunities necessary to build a stable future, create economic independence, and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Too many people have learned how to survive but have never been taught how to build.
From the Streets to Success was created to bridge that gap by providing a structured pathway from personal transformation to economic empowerment.
We believe that with the right guidance, accountability, and opportunity, individuals can move beyond their circumstances and become business owners, community leaders, homeowners, investors, and mentors for the next generation.
Mission Statement
"To equip formerly incarcerated individuals with the tools, mindset, and support system to rebuild their lives, refocus their purpose, and successfully reintegrate into society as productive, contributing citizens."
Our Vision
A society where a person's past does not determine their future — where every individual who has served their time receives a genuine second chance, supported by community, equipped with skills, and anchored in renewed purpose.
The Problem We Solve
of formerly incarcerated individuals face unemployment within the first year
will be rearrested within 3 years without structured reintegration support
cost per year to incarcerate — versus $5K to successfully reintegrate

These are not principles we aspire to — they are the structural pillars of every decision, every program, and every interaction at The Reset.
Every person deserves respect.
We treat every participant as a whole human being — not a case number, not a statistic. We build programs around their strengths, not just their struggles.
Own the journey.
We believe transformation requires honest self-reflection and personal responsibility. We provide the structure — participants do the work.
No one rises alone.
Reintegration is not a solo effort. We build peer networks, mentorships, and partnerships that create a true ecosystem of support and accountability.
The system isn't fair. We bridge the gap.
We confront the systemic barriers — housing discrimination, employment bias, limited access — head-on. Equity means removing obstacles, not just offering opportunity.
Built to last.
We don't just help people survive the transition — we equip them to build lasting stability. Every program focuses on long-term success, not short-term fixes.
A life with meaning changes everything.
Employment is a goal. Purpose is the foundation. We help participants connect their skills and experiences to a larger sense of meaning and contribution.
Four interconnected programs that take a participant from release to reintegration — from surviving to thriving. Click each program to explore in full.
The Reset is not a single intervention — it's a structured journey. Here is how we walk alongside every participant, step by step.
Every journey starts with listening. We conduct a comprehensive needs assessment — housing, employment, mental health, family — to build a personalized Reset Plan.
Participants begin with the Mindset Reset program, building the psychological and emotional foundation needed for everything that follows.
A mentor is assigned. Peer circles are formed. Wraparound services are activated. The support system is built brick by brick.
Career readiness, vocational training, and purpose discovery happen simultaneously — connecting skills to identity and identity to direction.
Job placement support, employer partnerships, and financial literacy coaching ensure that employment is sustainable — not just a first step.
Participants who have achieved stability are celebrated and invited to pay it forward as mentors, completing the cycle of transformation.
FOUNDER AND MENTOR
From the Streets to Success: The Reset

La Vonte R. Artis is the Founder and Mentor of From the Streets to Success: The Reset, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals rebuild their lives, rediscover their purpose, and create lasting pathways toward personal and economic success.
La Vonte's journey was not built through conventional circumstances. Having experienced incarceration, significant personal adversity, and the challenges that accompany reentry into society, he understands firsthand the barriers that often prevent individuals from reaching their full potential. After spending more than seven years as a federal fugitive and ultimately being apprehended on a federal warrant, he found himself at a crossroads that would redefine the course of his life.
Rather than allowing his past to determine his future, La Vonte embraced accountability, education, personal development, and faith. Through years of intentional growth, he transformed adversity into purpose and began building a vision that would eventually become From the Streets to Success: The Reset.
Determined to equip himself to serve others, he earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Business Administration from Jackson College, achieving multiple Dean's List honors while pursuing his education. He has also completed extensive training in meditation, conflict resolution, violence prevention, recovery support, leadership development, and community engagement.
While education and professional development played important roles in his growth, La Vonte credits his greatest transformation to his faith in God. He believes that God preserved his life through circumstances that could have easily ended differently and that every challenge he endured became preparation for a greater purpose.
This belief became the foundation for From the Streets to Success: The Reset. Through the organization's structured development model, participants are guided through personal transformation, accountability, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership development, legal and business education, asset building, and legacy planning.
Today, La Vonte continues to advocate for second chances, economic empowerment, and community restoration. His vision extends beyond helping individuals survive difficult circumstances; it is focused on helping them build businesses, strengthen families, create generational wealth, and become assets within their communities.
"God preserved my life for a purpose greater than my past."

CO-FOUNDER
From the Streets to Success: The Reset
Charles McCants is the Co-Founder of From the Streets to Success: The Reset, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals rebuild their lives, rediscover their purpose, and create lasting pathways toward personal and economic success.
Growing up in a two-family home with a strong upbringing, Charles was curious about life beyond his immediate surroundings. His curiosity about the other side of the tracks led him to a life-changing decision at a young age. He began selling drugs as a young teenager, which eventually led to incarceration during his early teenage years.
While incarcerated, Charles learned business models and principles that he later transformed into legitimate, lifelong business practices. At 18, he made the decision to turn his life around and pursue a different path. He went into business for himself and began his journey in real estate at 19 years old.
Today, Charles is actively involved in real estate development and property ownership, including work as a landlord. His experience has allowed him to work alongside several city officials, pastors, and business owners, giving him a broad understanding of the people and institutions that shape communities.
Charles has a genuine ability to relate to young people and individuals from all walks of life. He is especially passionate about teaching young people how to make better decisions, navigate challenges, and develop constructive conflict-resolution skills.
Through his personal journey, entrepreneurial experience, and commitment to community development, Charles brings a practical perspective to From the Streets to Success: The Reset. His goal is to help participants understand that their circumstances do not have to define their future, and that better decisions can create new opportunities and lasting success.
"Your past does not have to define your future. Greater than my past."
